Blackened Heart

He kept pace with her, always smiling.

She kept walking, but then soon stopped as she was holding her head as her eyes started to shake as she mumbles. "N-No not now, I just started, you have to give me a b-break here...ang!" She drops to her knees as she was in pain.

He blinks. "The hell?" He moved closer to her. "Hey, what's goin' on?"

She slowly gets back up. "I-I'm fine! B-But...I have to find her soon...ang..."

He tilted his head. "Aaaaaan, why is that?"

"A-Ang...Must you know everything?" She still winces in pain but still keeps going.

"If I am to help in any way, yes, yes I do."

"Why would you care? You don't even know my name..."

Lasche tilted his head. "In what world does it take one to know another's name before they offerer any sort of assistance?"

She shakes her head. "You can't help me...unless your some kind of healer...I have an illness...it's, slowly killing me, I might not make it to my 20's, I've had it since birth...but, I'm fine, don't worry about it..."

He crouches, looking at her face. "Don't look fine..." His eyes would seem more curious than concerned.

She steps back then keeps walking. "I have to keep going..."

"You're in no condition to be walking around like that, ya know?" He called after her, catching up.

"I-It doesn't matter...I-I have to...keep...goi-" She collapses out on the road, she still breaths but her body heat was burning.

He grumbles. "Dammit... only one around, which means I'm responsible..." He rolls his eyes, then sighs, walking over to the collapsed girl. He began lifting her, up under her arm. "Alright, lets go."

She groans lightly as he lifts her. Meanwhile, back at the camp sight Melina walks to Marucus as she taps on his shoulder as they were alone in the woods." Sir Marucus, would you like some help?" She smiles.

He smiles at her. "I need not the help, but perhaps company you can."

She smiles and nods. "If that is your wish, I'll be happy too." She walks to him then sits on a large log as she looks at him. "I'm curious, how did you become a knight?"

"Hmmm.... I suppose the main reason is that my father was a knight, and of course he wanted me to continue the legacy. I've never really questioned it, fighting has just always come naturally to me. I'm sure having trainer's on a duke's payroll helped me in becoming successful, however, hehe." He smiled at her.

She smiles back at him. "I find that interesting, I never carried out a family legacy before. " She chuckles. "Most people wouldn't find that fun to do, but if you enjoy it it must be pretty enjoyable to fulfill and I'm sure your father is very proud of you."

He smiles, looking up into the night. "I hope so, he's been dead for quite some time."

Her eyes widen a bit not realizing that. "O-Oh, I-I'm sorry...

He chuckles. "Do not feel bad, he died doing what he loved, I would only disgrace him by wishing he were alive."

"Oh I see..." She looks at him and smiles. "Well at least your happy, and I have to thank you for lighting me up earlier I took your advice and apologized again, and now were on same grounds again."

Marucus smiled. "No, no, Milady, I did nothing, it was you who did all of the work. There is no credit I can take from it."
